Science News: For the first time in history, doctors successfully retrieved information from a dying brain. This description is based on brain wave activities before and after sudden death. According to experts life can really shine before our eyes. However, other scientists do not agree with this. Actually, a group of doctors in Estonia was monitoring the brain of an 87-year-old patient. in order to detect his epileptic seizures. During these readings, the patient died of a heart attack. However the incident left the team with a unique discovery. The first electroencephalogram recording of a dying human brain occurred.
The team then decided to enlist other collaborators to analyze the recordings of the patient’s brain. The data collected is 30 seconds before and after the patient has stopped beating. Experts in the research found that brain waves remain active during and after the transition to death. Two types of waves were most active. Gamma and alpha waves. Gamma waves are particularly associated with dreaming and memory. Whereas alpha waves are associated with information processing and visualization. The team of doctors estimates that before death there is a bright light in the brain and the whole life comes before the eyes.
In a paper published Tuesday in Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience, the researchers wrote that this hypothesis is intriguing. Such activity can support the memory of the last life. Ajmal Zemmar of the University of Louisville said, ‘Research has revealed that the human brain is very complex. This research will be of great help in the field of neuroscience. Understanding the workings of the brain can lead to new ways of treating patients.
He said that after the flow of blood stops, the waves remain active for some time. However, there is still more study to be done on this. On this research, Professor Anil Seth of the University of Success said that this data is quite unique. It has come to know about what goes on in the brain before death. Psychologist at Leeds Beckett University in England, ‘Steve Taylor pointed out that linking gamma brain waves with flashbacks before death is a stretch.’
