After Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, Avesh Khan got injured
New Delhi, (IANS)| Openers Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav may join the Indian Test team in England. According to a Cricbuzz report, the national selectors and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have accepted the players’ appeal for the England series by the team management.
The Indian team, who went for the five-match Test series against England, is battling with the problem of injury. India’s Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan have been injured. Shubman had suffered an injury after the final match of the World Test Championship last month and has recently returned home. Avesh and Washington Sundar suffered injuries during this week’s warm-up match.
The names of Suryakumar and Shaw are understood to have been cleared by the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee after discussions with head coach Ravi Shastri. An appeal has been made for a third player but there is no word on whether any other player will go to England or not. It is not clear how and from where Suryakumar and Shaw will leave for England. Both the players are currently in Sri Lanka for the limited overs series.
