Mumbai. The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance in Maharashtra has suffered a major setback. Knowing this, Mahadev has joined the Maha Yuti at the last moment. Mahadev Jankar’s Rashtriya Samaj Party was not directly with Sharad Pawar. But he was angry with Mahayuti for a long time. For this reason, Sharad Pawar hit two birds with one stone by offering him the ticket from Madha Lok Sabha seat. Mahadev Jankar recently supported Sharad Pawar’s NCP. Mahadev Jankar’s departure from MVA is being considered a big blow for Sharad Pawar faction and Maha Vikas Aghadi. Maha Vikas Aghadi was also going to give ticket to Mahadev Jankar.
In view of the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, the BJP-led Mahayuti and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are busy resolving the discord within the party regarding candidates. Madha Lok Sabha seat has a large number of OBC and Dhangar voters, due to which Mahadev Jankar was being considered a winning candidate. Also, if he had fought from Madha, Supriya Sule would have also benefited in Baramati. Both Madha and Baramati Lok Sabha seats are adjacent to each other. He formed his own party in 2003.
Mahadev Jankar had contested elections from Madha Lok Sabha seat against Sharad Pawar in 2009 and stood third by securing around one lakh votes. In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, he fought against Supriya Sule in Baramati. NDA had left this seat for their party Rashtriya Samaj Paksha. He lost the election by just 69719 votes. It was only after the margin had reduced so much in 2014 that for the first time, BJP felt that the stronghold of Baramati could be won.

In 2015, Mahadev Jankar was elected to the Legislative Council. He was a minister in the Fadnavis cabinet from 2016 to 2019. For the last one year, he was angry that BJP was ignoring its small ally. Because of this, Sharad Pawar was trying to get him to join Mahavikas Aghadi by offering him Madha. It was almost certain that NCP would leave this seat for him from its quota, but at the last moment BJP succeeded in convincing its angry ally. Under the agreement, the Rashtriya Samaj Party will be given one Lok Sabha seat. It has not been decided yet which seat this will be. BJP has already announced its candidate for Madha.
