New Delhi. In the 7th match of the IPL 2024 season, Chennai Super Kings faced Gujarat Titans, in which Chennai won brilliantly. In this match, Super Kings achieved second consecutive victory. After the match, Gujarat Titans captain, Shubman Gill suffered a major blow as he was fined Rs 12 lakh for violating the rules. A statement issued by the IPL said, “Under the IPL Code of Conduct, a fine of Rs 12 lakh has been imposed on Shubman Gill for slow over rate.” It is noteworthy that after the stormy start of Rachin Ravindra, thanks to the half-century of Shivam Dubey, the team gave a challenging target of 206 runs to Gujarat Titans after losing six wickets. However, due to poor batting, Gujarat’s target faltered and it could only score 143 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. Chennai won by a margin of 63 runs.
Gill is proving to be a flop show
Shubman Gill’s performance against Chennai was disappointing. Gill could score only 8 runs in this match, he faced only 5 balls and hit one six. However, he had a good performance against Mumbai Indians, where he scored 31 runs off 22 balls, which included 3 fours and 1 six.
Won the match against Mumbai, but lost again against Chennai
Under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, Gujarat Titans snatched a thrilling win from Mumbai Indians. Mumbai needed 19 runs in the last over to win, but experienced fast bowler Umesh Yadav turned the tables. Umesh took 2 wickets for 12 runs in the last over, as Gujarat Titans won by 6 runs.
