The Supreme Court had earlier ordered a complete ban on advertisements related to Baba Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurveda’s claims of curing serious diseases, but had issued a contempt notice on complaints of non-implementation of this ban. Indian Medical Association has filed an application in the Supreme Court against Baba Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurved. Hearing which, the Supreme Court had issued orders to ban Patanjali’s advertisements related to curing serious diseases. Now, not responding to the notice in the contempt case can become a problem for Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna.
The war between Baba Ramdev and modern medical system has been going on for a long time. Such advertisements were continuously being given by Baba Ramdev and his Patanjali Ayurveda, in which it was claimed that even incurable diseases could be cured with Ayurveda. The Indian Medical Association had approached the Supreme Court against this. The Supreme Court had also reprimanded Baba Ramdev, terming Patanjali’s advertisements as misleading. At the same time, Baba Ramdev had also said in this matter that if he is a liar, then a fine of Rs 1000 crore should be imposed. He had also said that if he has committed a mistake, he is ready for death penalty. Now it remains to be seen whether Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna appear in the Supreme Court or not and what is the stand of the court in this matter.
