New Delhi. Aam Aadmi Party leader and former Delhi minister Satyendar Jain, already in trouble in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam case, has received a big blow from the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court today rejected his bail plea in the money laundering case and ordered his immediate surrender. Satyendra Jain was currently on interim bail due to health reasons. Satyendar Jain was arrested by ED in May 2022 in a money laundering case related to the liquor scam. The court granted him bail on 26 May 2023 on medical grounds. Then he was released for six weeks, but later its duration gradually increased.
The Supreme Court bench of Justice Bela M Trivedi and Justice Pankaj Mitthal today announced its verdict regarding the bail plea of Satyendar Jain. Earlier, on behalf of Jain, his lawyer senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi had requested the Supreme Court to grant bail to his client. Singhvi had appealed to the court that his bail does not pose any threat to the witnesses. The ED opposed the bail plea of the former minister and said that whenever he wants to come out of jail, he takes bail on medical grounds. The Supreme Court has rejected the bail application and ordered Jain to surrender immediately. AAP leader Satyendar Jain is on medical bail from May 26, 2023 citing health reasons. Earlier on September 25, the court had extended Satyendra’s interim bail till October 9. In the last hearing it was said that his lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi would not be able to appear in the court due to important work. In such a situation, the court had extended the interim bail on medical grounds.
