‘Be careful Rajya Sabha member, now strict action will be taken’
This report of the Committee of Privileges was tabled in the House last week. It added, “However, the Committee is also of the view that incidents of allegations against the Presiding Officers and blatant disregard of the rules of procedure and directions of the Speaker are on the rise… The Committee are of the view that the Members should be more careful and circumspect in their conduct.” Especially while making any statement, which may affect the honor and reputation of the Presiding Officers. The Committee is of the view that henceforth any act of imputation on the Presiding Officers or indulging in such action which results in disobedience to the directions given by the Speaker, may amount to breach of privilege and contempt of the House and may result in precedent.
Last year, three BJP members had given a privilege notice against Sen. Sen had commented on the Chairman allowing Roopa Ganguly to speak on an issue during the Zero Hour.
