At least 100 stray dogs were reportedly killed in Telangana’s Siddhipet district. According to animal rights activist Adulapuram Gautam, the village sarpanch and the panchayat secretary together gave poison to the dogs. Gautam is a member of Stray Animal Foundation of India. Police said that a case has been registered and investigation is going on.
In the complaint made by Gautam, it has been said that stray dogs were mass murdered in Tigul village of Jagdevpur mandal. According to him, the village sarpanch and panchayat secretary have hired those who catch the dogs.
The complaint said that on March 27, dogs were poisoned. Apart from this, they also killed a pet dog. On Sunday, the members of the foundation reached the village. It was learned that after killing the dogs, they were thrown into the well and then set on fire. In a video going viral on social media, carcasses of dogs lying in the pit were also seen.
The activist has also sent a complaint to the Collector of Siddhipet and the Commissioner of Police. It has been demanded from the collector that the sarpanch should be suspended for this crime.
