China claims the South China Sea
China claims most of the South China Sea. The Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan also have claims. The meeting between top US and Chinese officials came as US Secretary of State Antony Blinken arrived in China for talks with the Chinese leadership on several contentious issues between Washington and Beijing. China also claims Taiwan as its part. China has said many times that it will merge Taiwan. For this he will not shy away from using force. (Language)
