A strange development came to light on Wednesday night in the basti of Uttar Pradesh. In protest against the excavation of Rajwaha canal in Chhapia Shukla village of Harraiya block here, ADJ Manoj Shukla, a judicial officer posted in Sultanpur district, remained adamant in front of JCB throughout the night. He alleged that he has not done any denama of his land for the canal.
Without his permission, with the connivance of the district administration, the canal department is digging the canal illegally in his field. There was a stir as soon as the information about the judicial officer sitting on the dharna was received. In a hurry, the administrative officers and the force of many police stations reached. After an overnight plea, the judicial officers withdrew from the dharna on Thursday afternoon. Now the National President of Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav has taken a jibe at the government regarding this.
Akhilesh wrote in a tweet- ‘Immediately judicial cognizance of the case of Additional District Judge Manoj Kumar Shukla should be taken against the injustice being done in UP. When this is happening to the persons associated with the court, what will happen to the general public. This is the worst example of a poor law and order situation. People want justice, not JCB!’
this is the whole matter
The Rajwaha canal has been completed for about 28 km under the Saryu canal project passing through Harraiya tehsil of the settlement. The excavation of some land in Chhapia Shukla village was incomplete. When Tehsil Administration, Canal Department officials and contractors reached Chhapia Shukla village to excavate the canal with JCB machine, Mayank Shukla, the kin of judicial officer Manoj Shukla posted in Sultanpur, started stopping them. Said that he has not done the deed of land to the canal department. The police took Mayank into custody and the contractor started digging with JCB. On being informed, the judicial officers reached the village late in the evening and tried to stop the work by reaching the farm at night. Despite this, seeing the digging going on, he lay down in front of the JCB. To persuade them, the force of many police stations including Joint Magistrate / SDM Harraiya Amritpal Kaur, Sadar SDM reached. Throughout the night, the mood of the manuval continued, but the officers kept lying in the field in front of the JCB. Even on Thursday, till two o’clock in the day, he kept sitting next to the field with a cot. Making serious allegations against an executive engineer of the district administration and canal department, he demanded action along with stopping the work.
ADJ agrees on this condition
ADM Abhay Kumar Mishra and CO Seshamani Upadhyay after a lot of hard work and hours of talks, the ADJ agreed that along with releasing his detained nephew, the soil that has been removed should be leveled. After this the judicial officers returned home. Said that he would fight for his rights.
The minor canal has been excavated to complete the unfinished project. Excavation done right. A little more digging was done in the judicial officer’s field. Instructions have been given to the canal department to level the extracted soil. Police and administrative officers are monitoring. The atmosphere is completely under control.
Abhay Kumar Mishra, ADM, Basti
I have not benama of my land to anyone and I have not received any compensation. Many times DM had refused to excavate the canal in the land by giving letters to the officials of the Basti and Canal Department. My farm has also been acquired wrongly by the canal department.
