Grocery traders misled: Collector held a meeting with both the parties and clarified the whole situation
Mandi secretary stopped trucks filled with 220 quintals of jaggery, revenue of more than 34 thousand was also recovered
Mandsaur (Naiduniya Rep). From Friday morning till evening, there was a lot of ruckus in the city regarding jaggery. In fact, the whole movement started with the recovery of outstanding tax by the Mandi Secretary by confiscating the jaggery that came in the truck from Meerut. Regarding this, the organization officials of the grocery traders misled from the MLA to the collector and said that jaggery comes in animal feed, so the market is not under the purview of the Act. Believing his words, the MLA also wrote a letter to the Agriculture Minister demanding action against the Mandi Secretary. But the collector said in the morning itself that if there is animal feed, then how is it being sold at grocery shops and asked the market secretary to bring all the acts. In the evening, the traders and the secretary were made to sit face to face and talk. In this the merchants’ talk turned out to be false. Jaggery is considered an agricultural produce in the Agriculture Act. After this the action taken on four firms was considered correct. And the government also got revenue of about 34 thousand rupees.
According to the information, about 220 quintals of jaggery had arrived in the truck from Meerut in Dhanmandi on Thursday night. Due to the arrival of jaggery in agricultural produce, under the Mandi Act, when the market committee secretary and employees checked its papers, some seemed incomplete. Due to this, the truck was seized and appraised and action was taken for recovery of Mandi taxi and penalty from a total of four firms of two Mandsaur and two Javra. But the office-bearers of the Grocery Merchant Association expressed their indignation about this. And on Friday morning, all the MLAs reached Yashpal Singh Sisodia’s place. And entered the shops for recovery and made other allegations against the market secretary. Also said that jaggery comes in animal feed. The MLA also talked to the collector and sent it to him and wrote a letter to Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel. Grocery Vya Pari reached Collector Gautam Singh and said that the actions of the Mandi Secretary are wrong. Jaggery comes in ‘animal feed’ on which the market secretary cannot take action. On this the collector said that if jaggery is animal feed then how is it being sold at grocery shops and if the market secretary has taken any action then there will be some basis. After that in the evening a meeting of the market secretary and the traders was held together. The market secretary made available all the rules related to considering jaggery as an agricultural produce. Here the traders could not tell any act or announcement of the government regarding animal feed. After this, action was taken for recovery of penalty from all the four firms.
The image of the government is getting tarnished
MLA Yashpal Singh Sisodia said that in a letter to Agriculture Minister Kamal Patel, it was said that on February 17, at 7:30 pm, the Agriculture Market Secretary unnecessarily harassed the traders in the name of mandi tax on jaggery at 7:30 pm. did. A vehicle full of jaggery belonging to Deepak Traders of Dhanmandi was confiscated and unnecessarily kept standing for more than 18 hours i.e. till the afternoon of February 18. When I was given information in this regard by the traders, I immediately discussed it with Collector Gautam Singh. After that the Mandi Secretary Deepak is asking the operator of Traders to take the truck. This means that the action has been taken illegally against the rules and regulations. Traders also told me that jaggery is free from market tax and is animal feed. It is worth mentioning here that neither sugarcane nor jaggery is made in the agricultural market. Traders have alleged that threats like sealing the shops, calling the police were also made by the Mandi Secretary. The image of the government and administration is getting tarnished by this type of action. Therefore, ensure necessary action on the market secretary.
Mandi secretary collected revenue of Rs 34 thousand
During the process of vehicle inspection on February 17 by the Agricultural Produce Market Committee, the truck (RJ32 GB1820) was stopped and checked at 6:35 pm. In this 1100 boxes of notified agricultural produce ‘Jaggery’ were found. In a box, 220 quintals of jaggery was found at the rate of 20 kg. On February 11, 2011, the Madhya Pradesh government has notified the agricultural produce of jaggery and sugarcane in the gazette. Due to this, five times the fine of Mandi Tax was collected from the firms by preparing the case of the vehicle. Mandi Secretary Jagdish Singh Parmar said that 400 boxes of jaggery have come in the name of Mahavir Traders Mandsaur in the truck, its value is Rs 2 lakh 41 thousand 200, 200 boxes of jaggery in the name of firm Bhagirath Shrikishan Javra, worth Rs 1 lakh 20 thousand 600, 300 of MK Traders Javra. Box jaggery price 1 lakh 80 thousand 900 rupees, 200 box jaggery price of Deepak Traders Mandsaur was 1 lakh 20 thousand 600 rupees. In the case, on getting illegal trade from firm Bhagirath Shri Kishan Javra, 1.50 percent market fee of Rs.9045 and settlement fee of Rs.5000 on five times the price of jaggery of agricultural produce was recovered, thus totaling Rs.14 thousand 045. On getting illegal trade from firm MK Traders Javra, 1.50 percent market fee of Rs 13 thousand 568 and settlement fee of Rs 5000 at five times the price of agricultural produce jaggery has been recovered thus a total of Rs 18 thousand 568 has been recovered. Due to the firm Deepak Traders being a licensed firm of Mandsaur Mandi, 1.50 percent market fee of Rs 1809 has been recovered as per rules on agricultural produce brought from outside the state as per the Mandi Act. In this way, after recovering a total of Rs 34 thousand 422, the vehicle along with agricultural produce was handed over to the driver-traders. Action is being taken for recovery from the firm Mahaveer Traders Mandsaur.
Actually, there was some misunderstanding regarding the Act, which was cleared by making the market secretary and the traders sit face to face. After that everyone was satisfied.
