New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Tuesday said the area where a ‘Shivling’ was found inside Varanasi’s Gyanvapi mosque should be protected. Along with this, the top court has also made it clear that there will be no restriction on Muslim devotees offering prayers in the mosque.
Earlier, after the survey conducted in the Gyanvapi mosque, the Hindu side claimed to have found a Shivling in the Vazukhana of the mosque. The matter has also been heard in the lower court. The Hindu side approached the court for its protection, on which the court had ordered to seal the vazukhana. At the same time, hearing on the petition of the Masjid Committee against the survey in Gyanvapi is going on in the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
The petition was filed in the Supreme Court by the Anjuman Intrageniya Committee, on which Justice D.Y. Chandrachud’s bench is hearing.
The Hindu army has also reached the Supreme Court against the petition of the Muslim side. In its petition, the Muslim side has also demanded a stay on the proceedings of the Varanasi Court.
