Ayodhya. The grandeur of Ramnagari is returning on the initiative of Yogi government. Math temples are being renovated. Ramayana period ponds are also being decorated. On one hand, a grand temple of Lord Ram is taking shape and on the other hand, the culture and civilization of Ayodhya is being cherished. Along with religiosity, Lord Ram’s city Ayodhya is also being established on the world map from the tourism point of view. Perhaps this is the reason why the Yogi government is developing the building which was called Opium Kothi in the past as Saket Sadan and making it a center of attraction for tourists.
Opium Kothi is being known as ‘Saket Sadan’
The Yogi government, which is engaged in giving Ayodhya the mythological form of Ramnagari, has started efforts to develop Opium Kothi as Saket Sadan only a few months ago. Nawab Shujauddaula built it, which was once called Dilkusha Mahal. After the transfer of power, the British handed it over to the Narcotics Department, since then it came to be known as Opium Kothi. The name of Dilkusha Mahal/Opium Kothi, which was involved in the redevelopment of Ramnagari, has now become a part of history. Now it is being recognized as ‘Saket Sadan’.
Saket Sadan is situated in Dhara Road locality on Chaudhakosi Parikrama Marg. This place is being developed as a tourist destination by giving it a heritage look. The responsibility of its redevelopment has been handed over to Uttar Pradesh Project Corporation Limited. Saket Sadan is being renovated while preserving its antiquity.
Project cost Rs 1682.87 lakh
Regional Tourism Officer RP Yadav said that the Saket Sadan building is being repaired in which only lime and lime are being used. Efforts are being made to restore the building to the same form it was in earlier. Façade lighting system and park are also being rejuvenated. The cost of this project is Rs 1682.87 lakh. About 60 percent work has been completed. The period for completion of this work, which started from June 6, 2023, is March 2024.
