Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla, the leader of Gurjar Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti, passed away on Thursday. Bainsla was ailing for several days. Bainsla’s colleagues told that Bainsla, who was in discussion in the country and the world regarding Gujjar reservation, was ill for a few days. People also called him ‘Gurjar Gandhi’.
Colonel Bainsla was a well-known leader of the Gurjar society. Be it Vasundhara Raje or Ashok Gehlot, the whole of Rajasthan used to come to a standstill at the behest of Bainsla. Bainsla had made the realization of this power many times to both the leaders.
Bainsla was also a prisoner of war
Born in Karauli district of Rajasthan, Bainsla studied in Bharatpur and Jaipur. After that he was Professor of English for two years. But then he joined the Indian Army. Bainsla also participated in the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and was also a prisoner of war. After retiring from the Indian Army in 1991, he became active in local politics.
‘Our Gujjar Gandhi is gone’
Condoling the death of the Gurjar leader, Union Minister Kailash Choudhary tweeted, “Sad news of the passing away of Col. Kirori Singh Bainsla. Your contribution in improving the society and organizing the society will be unforgettable. MLA Jogendra Singh Awana told the media that Bainsla’s death is a personal loss to the Gujjar society and to himself. He said, ‘Our Gujjar Gandhi has gone, there can be no greater sorrow for the Gujjar society than this.’
Shailendra Singh Dhabhai, who was associated with Colonel Bainsla, termed it an irreparable loss to the Gujjar society. He said, ‘Bainsla did the work of awakening consciousness for the backward class and Gujjar society. He always had concern for the welfare of Gujjar society and he was very determined (person).’
