Mud Pots Best Utensil for Cooking: Cooking food in wrong utensils can become an enemy to your health. This has been said in the dietary guidelines recently issued by the Indian Medical Council and the National Institute of Nutrition for the people of India. It has already been told in the guidelines that wrong eating habits are responsible for 56 percent of the diseases in the country and for this there is a need for every Indian to improve his diet. It is said in the guidelines that you should thoroughly understand the utensil in which you cook food whether it has any harm or not. NIN has said that most non-stick utensils are an enemy to health. This releases harmful chemicals which get mixed with food and give rise to many diseases. Therefore do not use such utensils.
Non-stick utensils are a big villain
According to NIN, cooking in non-stick utensils can prove harmful. You will get very little nutritional value of any food from this vessel and on the contrary, if chemicals from it get mixed in the food then it will also cause huge harm. In the news of Indian Express, Edwina Raj, Clinical Nutritionist of CMI Hospital, Bengaluru, says that nowadays non-stick utensils are being sold rapidly in the market. It is claimed that this vessel is very good and smoke does not go inside it. On the other hand, it also does not spoil the utensils. But it is the opposite. Teflon is used for coating non-stick utensils.
As soon as Teflon is heated, it starts releasing perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). It is called PFOA. PFOA is a very harmful chemical which can cause fatal diseases like cancer. PFOA also causes problems with thyroid and childbirth. However, most companies have now agreed to remove PFOA from their utensils. Despite this, if the non-stick utensil starts getting too hot then there are many dangers. Overheated non-stick utensils produce harmful smoke which affects the lungs and increases the risk of polymer fume fever. If the non-stick utensil is hotter than 170 degrees, the risk increases.
Do not put anything in any container
NIN has told that do not keep chutney and sambar in aluminum, iron, brass and copper utensils as its acidity will increase and it will cause harm. At the same time, aluminum utensils are also not considered good for cooking. Due to this, aluminum can seep into the food. On the other hand, these elements start getting destroyed in steel utensils and the harmful chemicals released from it affect the kidney and liver function.
Earthen pots are the best
Stainless steel utensils are considered very safe for cooking. It is durable and also hygienic. However, clay pot is the safest and best for cooking. If its cleanliness is taken better care of, the nutritional value of the food prepared in it does not get destroyed and it does not require much oil or ghee. It condenses nutrition. On the other hand, if your utensil is not proper then it will not only destroy the nutritional value of the food but will also lead to many diseases. In this respect, earthen pots are eco-friendly. It has been said in the report that calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and iron are already present in earthen pots which are beneficial in strengthening the bones. The acidity of food cooked in earthen pots is very low, due to which it does not cause acidity and the cholesterol level also reduces.
