Cancer in Indian Youth: India is leaving behind many countries in cancer cases. What is even more worrying is that the diseases which should occur after 50 years, start appearing in India only between 30-35 years of age. A report of Apollo Hospital has made a shocking revelation in which it has been told that while in the countries of the world cancer occurs in older people, in India cancer has started occurring in people from a very young age. Especially youth are becoming victims of cancer on a large scale. Not only this, diseases like diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, non-communicable diseases like cancer are rapidly affecting the Indian youth.
emphasis on non-communicable diseases
The report of Apollo Hospital says that cancer cases are increasing rapidly in India. At the same time, one in three Indians is pre-diabetic and one in 10 is a victim of pre-hypertension. It has also been said in the report that generally youth are suffering from obesity. Mental health problems are also increasing rapidly. All this is affecting everything in our country. If the youth do not remain healthy then our economy will also start weakening. But the biggest reason behind all this is the mental health problems among today’s youth, which people do not pay attention to.
diseases in the body at a young age
Dr. Sathya Sriram, CEO of Preventive Health at Apollo Hospital, told News 18 that we are proud of our country’s demographic dividend because the majority of our population is youth. But the way diseases like cancer are affecting the youth, India will have to lose this benefit. It is very sad that the disease which earlier used to affect older people, has now started affecting the youth. Dr. Sathya Sriram said that if there is one reason most responsible behind these diseases, it is stress. Anxiety, obesity, fatigue, lack of sleep and stamina after stress. All these factors are responsible for low productivity.
stress is the biggest villain
Dr. Sathya told that when 11 thousand people between the age of 18 to 30 years were questioned, 80 percent of them accepted about stress in life. At the same time, restlessness, distress, disappointment, fatigue, lack of sleep and lack of strength are also becoming important reasons for these diseases. He said that if stress becomes chronic i.e. it settles in the body forever then it becomes the biggest villain for the body. However, if your stress is for a short period then it also provides motivation and people focus on their work, but chronic stress gives rise to many types of mental illnesses.
How to avoid these diseases
Dr. Sathya Sriram said that the best way to avoid chronic diseases like cancer, hypertension, diabetes is that more and more people get health screening done from time to time. That means there is a need to pay special attention to preventive health care. For this, there should be awareness among the people and people themselves should become aware of their health. He should get himself checked for essential diseases every year. However, in our country, testing is not done until the disease progresses. Therefore cancer is detected in advanced stage. People abroad are very cautious about their health and keep getting checked from time to time. Dr. Sathya said that the government also needs to pay special attention to preventive health. Along with this, the corporate world should also join this campaign.
