Germany’s leading automaker BMW launched its new electric SUV BMW iX in the Indian market yesterday. Adorned with a very attractive look and a powerful electric motor, the starting price of this SUV has been fixed at Rs 1.16 crore (ex-showroom). The company claims that in just a day, the units fixed in its first phase have been sold-out.
BMW is bringing this SUV to the Indian market through the Complete Built Unit (CKD) route. This SUV has created a buzz as soon as it comes in the market, it can be gauged from its first batch being completely sold out. The company recently started the first phase of bookings online and at official BMW India dealerships, but the bookings have been put on hold after the vehicles were sold out.
Now the second phase of booking will be started in the first quarter of next year. According to the information, the company will start the delivery of this SUV from April 2022. This is the company’s flagship model, which has been introduced in the Indian market. In the market here, the SUV will primarily compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz EQC, Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace.
The BMW iX SUV is one of the three pure electric vehicles that the company has planned for the Indian market. The model uses dual high-voltage electric motors that are mounted on each axle. The company claims that this SUV gives a maximum range of 425 km on a single charge, while in the case of pick-up also this SUV is very great. This electric SUV is capable of accelerating from 0-100 kmph in 6.1 seconds.
In the BMW iX, the company has given features like 14.9-inch infotainment screen and 12.3-inch driver display. On the other hand, the steering wheel gets soft-touch buttons and scroller wheel and the center console comes with touchpad. For music lovers, it gets Harman Kardon’s 18-speaker surround audio system which is also available for the rear seats. The SUV also offers multiple USB charging points and wireless support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
