Where the death of a transformer made everyone cry. This video of the funeral procession of the people is becoming quite viral on social media as well.
Talking about the incident, Kamlesh Tiwari, a farmer of Patna village in Katni district, says that due to the negligence of the electricity department, seeds for irrigation are not available. There are more than 1000 people in the village and most of the people depend on agriculture for their livelihood. The biggest problem is that the transformer of the electricity department installed in the village is not able to bear the load of electricity and gets burnt in a few days. Due to transformer, power is not being supplied properly even for 24 hours.
The villagers of the village are demanding that two transformers of at least 100 horse power should be kept so that they can carry the load of 40 agricultural connections in the vicinity. The villagers say that after the transformer breaks down, they have to go to Jabalpur, about 100 km away, for which the villagers have to bear the rent of three thousand rupees from their own pocket. Angry villagers took out the burnt transformer in Jabalpur on Monday as a protest and took out the meaning of it by placing it in a tractor trolley and reached the electricity department through the village.
Farmer Umaid Patel says that he is not being heard by the department. Every time a transformer of low capacity and substandard quality is installed. Due to this the villagers are very upset. Villagers have also complained about this to the District Collector and other public representatives but till now they have not received any reply. They also demonstrated against the government and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, when the villagers took out the last journey of the transformer regarding the power supply.
