The layers of the horrific violence that took place in Birbhum district of West Bengal on Monday night are now unfolding. Locals say that TMC’s panchayat leader Bhadu Sheikh was murdered over illegal mining earnings and in return for the same violence broke out, in which 10 people were burnt alive. The miscreants set many houses on fire, out of which 7 people were burnt alive in a single house. The Bengal government says that 8 people have died in the fire, while local people say that 10 people have died. Not only this, these people say that all the people who died are women and children.
Police accused of not taking action, illegal earning became a call
Not only this, about the violence that took place on Monday night in Bogtui village, it is being said that it was feared for a long time. Questions are also being raised on the police in this whole incident. People say that the police has not taken any action till Tuesday night. Local people told that this whole matter is of mutual enmity between two families of TMC supporters and their supporters. At the root of this enmity is the income earned from illegal sand mining from the river banks. Apart from this, earning from stones is also a reason for this.
TMC leader’s brother was murdered a year ago
It is being said that due to this, Bhadu Sheikh, the deputy head of Barshal gram panchayat of Birbhum district, was murdered on Monday. Four people on a bike had fled by throwing bombs at him and died on the way to the hospital. Bhadu Sheikh’s nephew Sujan Sheikh said that he had been receiving threats for a long time. He is also a witness to the murder of his maternal uncle. Earlier in January last year, Bhadu Sheikh’s brother was also murdered in the same village. Family members say that then two accused of murder were arrested, while the rest fled the village itself.
TMC leader’s family said – threats were already being received
Sujan Sheikh said that on Monday night my maternal uncle was sitting at a tea stall. During this, some people riding bikes came and threw a bomb at them. Apart from this, three bullets were also fired. My uncle was getting death threats for a long time. Sujan said that I too had received such threats. He accused Palash Sheikh of rival group that he had said on Sunday itself that he would kill my maternal uncle. Bhadu Sheikh’s brother Muhammad Noor Ali has also made a similar allegation. Not only this, accusing him of lack of security, he has left the village itself.
