A company named Riddhi Siddhi has taken over the responsibility of Kherkidola toll plaza of Gurugram from 6 am on March 1 itself. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had issued instructions in this regard last month.
NHAI’s project director Nirman Jambhulkar says that Riddhi Siddhi has only been entrusted with the responsibility of toll collection. The maintenance of the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway will be entrusted to another company.
At the same time, after giving the responsibility of recovery at the toll plaza to the private company, the situation remains the same as before. Even today, long lines and chaos are being seen at the toll plaza. On the other hand, there is a lot of anger among the people due to not removing the toll plaza. They say that NHAI focused on Rs 200 crore and not on their problems. NHAI earns about Rs 200 crore every year from toll.

The development of industrial sector is getting affected: Social worker
Social worker Ajay Sharma says that the development of Manesar industrial area is being affected due to the toll plaza. People have to think to come and go towards Manesar. Even after this it is not being removed. Rajesh Verma, a businessman living in Sector-10A, says that NHAI did not consider the state government’s proposal.
The state government had proposed to operate the toll plaza at Pachgaon. Let us inform that the toll plaza has remained a symbol of traffic jam for years. There is traffic pressure on both sides of the toll plaza not only during peak hours but also during rest of the time.
The main reason behind this is that the toll plaza is not according to the number of vehicles. On an average, 80 to 85 thousand vehicles pass through the toll plaza daily. According to this, there should have been a facility of 40 lanes whereas there are only 25 lanes. More than one lakh such vehicles come out which do not come under the purview of toll.
