New Delhi. The farmers of UP are moving fast towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of doubling the farmers’ income. In view of the subsidy on seeds, fertilizers and other facilities from the government of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, sugarcane farmers have started adopting co-cropping farming rapidly. For the first time in UP, a farmer from Shahjahanpur has sown sugarcane in the rainy season. Along with this, cultivation of tomato potato capsicum has also been started. Due to which the farmers will get double benefit. The cost of sugarcane crop will come out of co-cropping. In Uttar Pradesh, sugarcane was sown from February to the last week of March, after which the farmers did not sow sugarcane, but Kaushal, a progressive farmer living in Shahjahanpur, planted sugarcane in a free 3:30 acre field in the rainy season. He says that in South India and Maharashtra, sowing of sugarcane continues throughout the year.
The farmer of Shahjahanpur in UP has taken the first step towards progress by doing the first experiment, along with that he has also started crop farming, which will give double benefit to the farmers. Kaushal Mishra has emerged as a role model for the farmers, taking inspiration from him, other farmers are also adopting similar farming methods. Progressive farmer Kaushal says that the temperature in Maharashtra remains 28 to 30 degrees. Due to this, after sowing of sugarcane there, its germination and deposition remains good. The temperature remains almost the same even in the rainy season. For this reason, when sugarcane is sown at this time, it responds well. Whereas sugarcane germinates late due to low temperature in winter. Because of the temperature, half of the sugarcane seed is sown in the rainy season. In three acres, 40 quintals of sugarcane was sown. Whereas in normal season 80 quintals of seed would have to be put in the fields.
Progressive farmers are cultivating tomato potato capsicum along with sugarcane cultivation in monsoon season. Due to this, there are less pests in the crops. Besides, the cost of sugarcane comes out of co-cropped vegetables. Sugarcane is saved free of cost to the farmers. His income automatically doubles. The cabinet had recently declared the support price for sugarcane farmers. This time the support price of sugarcane has been kept at Rs 305 per quintal. The state government has swiftly cleared the dues of sugarcane farmers. In the last 100 days, instead of the target of paying eight thousand crores, the Yogi government has paid Rs 14,500 crore to sugarcane farmers. Apart from this, sugar mills of the state have bought sugarcane worth 35 thousand crores. 29000 crores has been paid so far in this.
