Volcano (Kangra). People erupted in anger over the suspicious death of a 32-year-old youth from Batahal Khurd village of Jwalamukhi, Majheen in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. Angry people demonstrated outside the police post Majhin and raised slogans against the police. During this period there was also a traffic jam. On receiving information about the matter, dozens of police personnel including DSP Jwalamukhi RP Jaswal, DSP Dehra Anil Kumar, SHO Jwalamukhi Vijay Sharma, SHO Khundian Ranjit Parmar reached here. After the police assured them of action, the villagers ended their protest after 4 hours.
Local people allege that the said youth was called to police post Majhin 2 to 3 days ago in connection with a theft case. Here the police beat him. Later, out of fear the young man committed suicide. The incident was confirmed by DSP Jwalamukhi RP Jaswal. DSP Dehra Anil Kumar said that the police have registered the case on the basis of the complaint of the youth’s sister. Whoever is guilty, action will be taken against him.

Last night, Chaman Lal’s sister Shanta Devi, Niwali Amb Uchhad lodged a report in the police station Jwalamukhi. The sister told that her brother Chaman Lal was in her house yesterday and was mentally disturbed. He was called to the police post Majhin for questioning in the theft case.
The sister alleged that the police post staff intimidated her and due to this her brother Chaman Lal was mentally disturbed. The police is responsible for his death. Police have registered a case on the statement of complainant Shanta Devi and started further action.

Let us tell you that Chaman Lal (32 years), son of Purna Chand, resident of Batahal Khurd, Majheen, Tehsil Khundia, under Jwalamukhi assembly constituency, had come to Amb Pathiyar yesterday to meet his relatives. He had attacked himself with a crowbar. In injured condition, youth Chaman Lal was referred from Civil Hospital Jwalamukhi to Tanda for first aid. Chaman Lal died during treatment here. At present, the police have registered a case against the unknown under Section 306 IPC.
