Washington: The US has issued a new level 3 travel advisory for Pakistan, in which it has informed citizens that there could be terrorist attacks and conflict along the Line of Control (LoC) in the country.
As Sama TV reports, the new Level 3 travel advisory means US citizens are being asked to reconsider their plans if they are traveling to the country.
The travel advisory issued on April 4 barred US citizens from traveling to Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) provinces because of the risk of terrorism and kidnapping.
It also asks them to avoid places near the LoC which face the risk of terrorism and possibility of armed conflict.
“Terrorists can strike without warning, targeting transportation hubs, markets, shopping malls, military installations, airports, universities, tourist sites, schools, hospitals, places of worship and government facilities,” the statement said.
According to Sama TV report, although there have been terror attacks in Balochistan and KP provinces in recent months, the advisory said terrorist attacks in Islamabad are rare. However there are dangers.
According to the statement, the US government has limited ability to provide emergency services to US citizens in Pakistan due to the security environment. Travel by US government personnel to Pakistan is prohibited and additional restrictions on movement by US government personnel outside US diplomatic facilities may occur at any time. Depending on local conditions and safety conditions, that may change suddenly. The US Consulate General in Peshawar is unable to provide any consular services to US citizens.
