Lucknow. CM Yogi Adityanath had announced to start a campaign against goons and mafia only after taking over the power of UP for the first time in the year 2017. He had clearly said that those who cannot improve, have to be ready to leave UP or lose their lives. In the era of the previous governments, the miscreants had left no stone unturned to challenge the Iqbal of the police. Big crimes used to happen every day. Now those days have become history. Now the police do not spare the miscreants in UP. Either they go to jail, or miscreants have to lose their lives in encounters. The result of CM Yogi’s policy of zero tolerance against crime is that so far 168 miscreants have been killed in police encounters. If we look at the figures till March 20, 2017, then 22234 miscreants have been caught in encounters. At the same time, 1375 policemen were injured in the firing of miscreants and 13 had to be martyred.
Zone wise in the state, 19 miscreants were killed in 2095 encounters in Agra zone. There were 436 encounters in Prayagraj zone. Apart from this, a fierce campaign is also being run against the mafia in the Yogi government. The mafia once spoke highly of people like Mukhtar Ansari and Atiq Ahmed, but both are in jail for a long time. Their property worth crores has either been demolished by the Yogi government with bulldozers. Or their property has been confiscated. 448 crores of Mukhtar Ansari and 959 crores of Atiq Ahmed have been seized. At the same time, for the first time in the country, the Yogi government started the work of demolishing illegal houses of rioters and those who damaged government and private property with bulldozers. Because of which CM Yogi is now known as ‘Bulldozer Baba’. The situation is such that when Yogi goes for election campaign in Gujarat or other states, supporters have started reaching his public meetings with bulldozers.
