Dehradun. The newly elected MLAs of Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly took oath today. Pro tem speaker Banshidhar Bhagat administered the oath to the newly elected MLAs. Banshidhar Bhagat took oath as Pro-tem Speaker before the Governor at Raj Bhavan. Swearing-in of the MLAs started from 11:00 am. Pro tem speaker Banshidhar Bhagat announced that 69 out of 70 MLAs have taken oath of office. Tilak Raj Behad, the newly elected MLA from Kichha, did not reach for the oath, so he called in the Protem Speaker and talked to him. Tilak Raj Rugged then declared himself unable to come, citing his ill health.
Giving information, Banshidhar Bhagat said that out of 69 MLAs, 5 took oath in Sanskrit, while Kishor Upadhyay, who was elected MLA from Tehri, took oath in Garhwali language, after which he was administered oath in English also.
