Voting is taking place on five Lok Sabha seats of Uttarakhand from 7 am on Friday. People are reaching polling stations to cast their votes. Meanwhile, reports of violence and vandalism have emerged. An incident of voter breaking EVM machine has come to light in Haridwar Lok Sabha seat. A voter broke the EVM machine at polling station 126 Jwalapur Inter College of Haridwar Assembly.
Shouted and said – We oppose EVM machine
Protesting against the EVM machine, the voter slammed the machine kept at the polling booth down. He shouted that we oppose the EVM machine. He said that elections should be conducted through ballot paper. At present the police have taken the voter into custody. The EVM machine broke, but was later switched on.
Chaos at the polling station
This action of the voter created an atmosphere of chaos at the polling station. The policemen deployed outside immediately caught the voter and took him to the railway post, where he is being interrogated. (IANS)
