Islamabad. Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said on Saturday that the vote on the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan is likely to be held on April 3 or 4, indicating further delay. This information was given by Friday Times. Although the no-confidence motion was on the agenda for Friday’s National Assembly session, Speaker Asad Qaiser adjourned the session until Monday.
Leader of the Opposition Shahbaz Sharif then wrote to Kaiser, criticizing his handling of the no-confidence motion and alleging that the Speaker had failed to fulfill his constitutional obligations by delaying the no-confidence vote.
Rasheed said the opposition has actually played into the hands of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government. He claimed that Imran’s popularity has increased after the no-confidence motion was moved.
He also termed the opposition a “stupid” for helping Prime Minister Imran Khan garner more support.
Responding to further questions, Rashid said that Jam Abdul Karim, MNA of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), would be arrested on his return to Pakistan from Dubai.
Karim is named in a murder case in Sindh, but he is currently out of the country.
