The BJP has called a 12-hour bandh on Monday to protest against the violence and alleged rigging in the civic polls in West Bengal. Describing these elections as a joke, the party announced an agitation against the West Bengal government. Due to the bandh, where trains are running as usual, limited operation of government and private buses is being done. This may affect the movement. Meanwhile, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has summoned Election Commissioner (SEC) Saurav Das. The Bengal government said that Das would report to the governor in the afternoon.
The bandh will be on Monday from 6 am to 6 pm. Elections to 107 municipalities were held in West Bengal on Sunday. 76.51 percent votes were cast in the election. Bengal BJP has written a letter to the State Election Commissioner alleging violence and rigging in these elections. The letter has complained of violence, attacks, arson and complete failure of law and order machinery in 108 municipalities in the February 27 polls. The party has alleged complicity of the ruling Trinamool Congress workers as well as election officials and the state police-administration in the violence. The party declared these elections to be invalid.
Democracy joke: Bhattacharya
Bengal BJP spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said that this is not voting but a joke of democracy. In every municipality from south to north Bengal, the goons of the ruling party made elections a spectacle. In protest, a 12-hour Bengal bandh has been called on Monday.

On the other hand, Bengal DGP Manoj Malviya said that there were sporadic incidents of violence during the polling. There was no death or shooting incident. The police have taken action in all cases of violence.
