The petition is politically motivated…
A bench of Acting Chief Justice Manmohan Singh and Justice Manmeet P S Arora is scheduled to hear the petition on Wednesday. On April 2, the High Court had given the last chance to the Center and several opposition parties to respond to the petition filed by Girish Bhardwaj. The Congress, in its reply, said that the petitioner claimed to be a 30-year-old businessman from Karnataka, but he deliberately concealed the fact that he was closely associated with the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and also, without considering the pleas, It is clear that one of the objectives of filing this petition is to strengthen one’s political affiliation.
There is no such provision in the law…
“Therefore, the present petition is not only a politically motivated petition but has also been filed in the garb of a PIL with a view to further the political maneuver of the petitioner,” the Congress said in its reply. Therefore, being personally and politically motivated, it deserves to be dismissed with heavy penalty.” Congress said that the petitioner has not been able to show any provision in the law which prevents the respondent parties from keeping this name. The party said the petition is nothing but a “malicious and frivolous attempt” by the petitioner to entangle this court in politics and election matters in the guise of public interest and, therefore, should be dismissed with heavy cost.
