Will Stalin come closer to NDA?
BJP has made a strong entry in the politics of South through Karnataka. The party is eyeing to set foot in Telangana, Kerala as well as Tamil Nadu. Tamil Nadu’s two major parties, the AIADMK and the DMK, have been in alliance with the BJP at the Centre. In such a situation, there is no escape from either of the two parties for the BJP. At present, the image of PM Modi is almost universal in the country at the level of center and states. However, there are exceptions in states like West Bengal and Kerala. In such a situation, PM Modi can play an important role in strengthening the southern fort for BJP.
There is no special displeasure with PM Modi
The way PM Modi and Stalin met warmly on Saturday and the body language of the two leaders was similar, many speculations are being made. Political analysts believe that if DMK comes closer to NDA, then PM Modi will play an important role in it. On the other hand, Stalin also does not have any special displeasure with the PM. In Telangana, CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao did not attend PM Modi’s program. At the same time, Stalin appeared close to PM Modi at every step of the three programs from the inauguration of the airport terminal to the flagging off of the Vande Bharat train after leading PM Modi.
Land getting ready for 2024
The duel between the two leaders has also raised the question whether the BJP is starting to prepare the ground for 2024 in the state. In fact, a few days before PM Modi’s visit, the Chief Minister had written a letter to him demanding that the three coal blocks identified in the Cauvery delta region of the state be removed from the national auction list. The Center moved quickly to remove all three sectors from the list. State BJP leader K Annamalai also issued a statement thanking the Prime Minister for taking the prompt step. PM Modi has also laid the foundation stone for new projects worth Rs 5000 crore for Tamil Nadu. At the same time, MK Stalin also said that India as a nation will prosper only when money is received from the Center for the development of the states.
When Karunanidhi shook hands with Vajpayee
No one can say who will stand on which side in politics and when. Anything is possible in politics, it depends on the needs and circumstances of the particular party at that time. On the other hand, NDA is not an untouchable for DMK. In the year 1999, DMK has been a part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). At that time Pramod Mahajan played an important role in the alliance with DMK. This alliance lasted till 2004. Murasoli Maran was an important link of this alliance from DMK’s side in the center. Pramod Mahajan and Murasoli Maran had prepared the ground for this alliance. Maran was very close to the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee. This can be gauged from the fact that in 2002, Maran fell ill. Even after being in a coma, he remained on the ministerial post. After the Gujarat riots in 2002, there was a rift in this alliance. In 2003, Karunanidhi got two of his ministers to resign from the Centre.
