New Delhi. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has given its reply to a Delhi court on Thursday on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s plea to consult his regular doctor through video conferencing. Advocate Zuhaib Hussain, appearing on behalf of ED, said that the reason for the increase in Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s sugar is his home-cooked food. They are being given potato puri, mango, sweets and sweet things to eat from home. We have asked for a report from the jail authority.
Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyer Vivek Jain opposed the arguments of the ED lawyer and said that the investigating agency is giving this statement for the media. Arvind Kejriwal’s lawyer said that his fasting sugar was 243, which is very high. Kejriwal is being given food only as directed by the doctor. At the same time, ED told the court that Arvind Kejriwal is drinking tea with sugar.
Let us tell you that in his petition filed before Special Judge Rakesh Syal, Kejriwal had said that his blood sugar level is fluctuating and he wants to consult his regular doctor. The judge had directed the ED to file its reply by April 18. Opposing Kejriwal’s plea, ED’s lawyer had argued that the jail has necessary facilities for such patients and their medical examination can be done there.
Kejriwal’s lawyer said on behalf of his client that if I am taking care of my health then why is ED opposing it? On Monday, the court had extended Kejriwal’s judicial custody till April 23 in the money laundering case related to the alleged excise policy scam. The ED has accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kejriwal of being involved in ‘the entire conspiracy from the formulation and implementation of the excise policy to the Delhi liquor scam’.
