Jagdalpur. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has made several important announcements for the local soldiers fighting the Naxalites in Bastar in the budget presented in the state assembly on Wednesday. He has announced the formation of a new force for the Naxalites who have surrendered and joined the mainstream. Its name has been named DSF i.e. District Strike Force. This announcement has excited the assistant constables working on the Naxal front in Bastar. The assistant constable had been demanding promotion for many years but he was not getting promoted.
The formation of DSF is expected to open the way for promotion of experienced assistant constables. Bastar IG Sundarraj P told Naiduniya that after the approval in the budget for the formation of DSF, now the rules will be issued from the Home Department. Only then it will be known what will be the nature of the new force. He said that in the last year i.e. 2021, more than 550 Naxalites have surrendered. There is no plan to include everyone in the force. Only those who want to join the force and are eligible will be included in it.
Other programs are run under the rehabilitation scheme for other surrendered Naxalites. Apart from surrendered Naxalites in the new force, Naxal victims will also be included. He told that recruitment will be done in every district of the division. Announcing the DSFF, Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said that the promotion and salary increase of the assistant constables who were not getting promotion will now be possible with this announcement.
It is to be known that at present, a force of about three thousand youth, District Reserve Guard (DRG) is deployed on the Naxal front. The Special Security Officer (SPO) was recruited during the anti-Naxal movement Salwa Judum in Bastar. These included youths of families displaced due to Naxal violence. In 2011, when the Supreme Court banned the Salwa Judum, a new force was created by giving the post of assistant constable to the SPO. Apart from these youth, many surrendered Naxalites have also been included in the DRG.
Know the whereabouts of Naxalites
The surrendered Naxalites know the whereabouts of the Naxalites. They are well versed in the language, dialect and geography. Their arrival in the force will help in controlling the Naxalites. Many people who have become homeless due to Naxal harassment have applied for jobs. There will also be an opportunity for them in the new force. Naxalites are more afraid of local fighters than the central security forces. The DRG jawans have dusted them several times in one-on-one combat. Now after the formation of DSF, the strength of the force will increase here.
