The people of Pakistan are troubled by rising inflation. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday said that he has not entered politics to check the price of ‘aloo, tomato’. He said this while targeting the opposition parties for moving a no-confidence motion against him in Parliament. The opposition has accused him of mismanagement of the economy.
Addressing a political rally in Punjab province’s Hafizabad city, Imran Khan said the country will stand against elements who are trying to topple his government by “using money to buy the conscience of MPs”. He also said that Pakistan is going to become a great country in the rest of his tenure.
The cricketer-turned-politician said that 25 years ago, he decided to enter politics for the sake of the youth of the country. He said that he did not get any personal benefit by doing so. This is because they already had everything a person dreams of getting.
Imran Khan, president of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party, said, “I did not join politics to know the prices of potatoes and tomatoes. I joined it for the sake of the youth of the country. If we want to be a great country, we have to support the truth and this is what I have been saying for the last 25 years.”
A few days before Imran Khan’s speech, the United Opposition Front moved a no-confidence motion against him. Prominent leaders of opposition parties will meet on Monday at the residence of Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif to work out an effective strategy to make the no-confidence motion a success.
Will fall victim to his own conspiracy- Imran Khan also said that it is the responsibility of the government and the judiciary to stop corrupt and guilty politicians who are trying to “topple the government” through horse-trading. He said that those who are trying to remove him from the post of Prime Minister will fall prey to their own conspiracy.
Targeting the opposition- In his speech, Imran Khan addressed Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) president Asif Ali. criticized Zardari. He said that these people remained silent on US drone strikes in Pakistan between 2008 and 2018. These leaders never spoke for the rights of Pakistan.
Next general election in 2023- Explain that the opposition needs 272 votes to remove the Prime Minister in the 342-member National Assembly. Prime Minister Imran Khan, 69, came to power in 2018 and the next general election is due in 2023.
