Israeli intelligence agency Mossad has carried out many deadly missions all over the world. The special thing in most of the missions has been that no one was aware of them. One such operation was carried out in 1960 in Argentina, which was named Operation Finale. In this operation, the agents of Mossad captured the Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann and then brought him to Israel.
Adolf Eichmann was residing in Argentina after the Second World War, by name. As soon as it was reported to the Mossad in 1957, it made a plan and it was approved by the Israeli Prime Minister David Ben Guri. In April 1960, four Mossad agents entered Argentina from four different locations and then rented a house in Buenos Aires. According to the plan, Aichman was to be captured on 10 May 1960 and then airlifted to Israel on 11–12 May.
It was also decided in this operation that the iceman returns home every evening at 7.40 pm by bus number 203. Only then this operation has to be carried out, but in the end there was a problem when the Argentine government allowed the plane to arrive on 18 May due to the 150th anniversary of independence. Now it has been decided that Iceman will be kidnapped on May 11 instead of 10. Then somehow it has to be kept hidden till May 18.
Keeping Adolf Eichmann hidden was also a big challenge because the police could take action on the complaint of the family. On May 11, Adolf Eichmann did not get off bus number 203 at 7.40 pm. Then at 7:50 pm two buses came and the iceman did not show up. The order of the Mossad head was that if the icemen were not caught by 8 o’clock, then the mission was to be ended there. All the Mossad agents in the car were disappointed as it was 8 o’clock.
Then another bus came at 8:5 minutes but no one got down but a person was seen coming from behind the bus. A Mossad agent may have recognized the iceman but went closer for confirmation. The person’s appearance was similar to that of Iceman. Just then was it put in the car and then it was confirmed by the marks of the appendix operation in the stomach and the questioning. After this, on 21-22 May, he was brought to Israel by plane.
Then the then Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Guries addressed the country’s parliament and told that the Israeli security forces had captured the Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann. Now he will be prosecuted legally. Then on 15 December 1961, Aikman was sentenced to death and was hanged on 31 May 1962.
