Today’s story is about a couple belonging to two billionaire families. In which the husband was accused of killing his wife on honeymoon after marriage, but this case turned into a murder mystery. The boy’s name was Shrien Devani and the girl’s name was Annie Devani. Srin was of Indian British origin while Annie was of Indian Swedish origin. Both of them were married in the year 2010 and many big personalities of the country and abroad attended.
A few days after the wedding, Shrien went to South Africa with his wife Annie for their honeymoon. During this honeymoon period, Annie finds that Shrien is often busy on the phone and tries to go out on the pretext of work. Whenever Annie asked, he would avoid talking and when he tried to check the phone, he would take the phone. When Shrien’s attitude remained like this for several days, Annie’s suspicion increased.
Then one day after dinner Shrien went out again the same night and Annie followed him. During this, Shrien was hugging and kissing someone. Annie starts coming back in anger when Shrien Devani sees her and rushes to Annie to persuade. All this was going on when a car came and three people kidnapped both of them. When there was no news for two days, the relatives complained to the local police of South Africa.
Two days after the incident, Shrien Devani called and narrated the whole incident and said that the kidnappers shot Annie. The affluent families put pressure on the police and then with the help of CCTV footage, two people were arrested along with the driver of the car. While Shrien returned to Britain during the investigation, all the three accused confessed to the crime in front of the police and told that Shrien had given the contract to kill Annie.
When the matter went to court, ShriN Devani became the main accused but his connection with the arecanut killers was not proved. It was just proved that Annie and Shrien had a fight during dinner on the day of the incident. The shooter got life imprisonment while two others got 25 and 18 years imprisonment. Shrien admitted to the court that he and Annie had a quarrel, saying that he was gay and that there was a fight with Annie about this.
Shrien told that she had a homosexual relationship with a young man of Brazilian origin who had come to South Africa during the honeymoon. That night Shrien was hugging him when Annie saw him. In 2014, the court acquitted Devani of the case due to lack of evidence. However, many things were said about the case later, which believed that the reason behind this murder was that Srin was gay; Which he didn’t want to let out.
