Today we talked about an operation in America which failed and then it was shamed all over the world. After the failure of this operation, even a President in America lost his power. This is about Operation Eagle Claw. Actually, the foundation of this operation was laid in the year 1979 in Iran, because in this year the Islamic Revolution was at its peak in Iran. The people of Iran wanted to overthrow Shah Mohammad Reza of the Pahlavi dynasty.
At that time people felt that Mohammad Reza was strangling their interests in the pursuit of modernizing Iran. At first he tried to suppress this opposing voice, but when Shah turned his supporters against Mohammad Reza, he left the country and went to America. Now the trouble was for America because its Tehran embassy was captured and the Americans were taken hostage.
America was asked to hand over Mohammad Reza to him, but America did not accept it as a force to be reckoned with. The result of this insistence was that the American people remained hostage to the king’s opponents for about 444 days. However, America did not remain silent for so many days, many officials, including the then US President Jimmy Carter, talked but only disappointment. Opponent only. They were asking for Raza back.
The US said it would prosecute Raza in its own country, but Iran refused. Then the US launched Operation Eagle Claw to free the hostages from Iran. Under the mission, American soldiers had to go secretly during the night and save their citizens. On 24 April 1980, the American squad came out but the sand storm brought America to its knees. Several helicopters crashed and 8 American soldiers were killed.
America postponed the mission and thought of carrying out the work through diplomatic means. Together with his allies, he imposed all kinds of trade restrictions. In the meantime, when Iraq waged war on Iran, America wanted to complete the revenge by coming with Iraq, in which it was successful to a large extent. Then Iran sought cooperation from the United Nations. The UN said that all this would stop only until the hostages were released.
Then in early 1981, Algerian diplomats mediated talks between Iran and the United States. Meanwhile, on January 20, 1981, US President Ronald Reagan was sworn in in America. Then America lifted all the sanctions on Iran and then Iran released the hostages.
