Jitendra Beniwal/Faridabad. Many people are struggling with pyorrhea, but the problem is that people do not have much knowledge about its treatment. There are many types of bacteria in our teeth. When these bacteria gradually start accumulating around our teeth, they get nutrition from the food we eat and start damaging the gums and jaw bone around our teeth. Gradually the bones also start melting, then this disease is called pyorrhea. If this disease is not taken care of in time, it spreads so much that the teeth start moving. Talked to dentist Dr S Malik regarding this.
Faridabad’s dentist Dr. S. Malik said that healthy people usually have hundreds of bacteria in their mouth. Most of them do not cause harm, but when you do not clean your teeth properly, bacteria grow and accumulate on your teeth. He said that the second cause of pyorrhea is not brushing properly. He further said that if you do not remove plaque by brushing, then the bacteria deposit minerals within the plaque over time. This frozen mineral is known as tartar. The attachment of the gums to the root of the tooth breaks and a gap can form between the gums and the root. Its symptoms include bleeding gums while brushing, bad breath, change in the condition of teeth, red, tender or swollen gums, pain in teeth while chewing food.
Dentist S Malik told what to do?
- Get your teeth cleaned regularly.
- Quit smoking, brush twice a day
- Always use a soft bristle brush
- use fluoride toothpaste
- Avoid using toothpicks, safety pins or any sharp objects to remove food particles.
- Eat fiber-rich foods daily to remove plaque
- Astringents can be used intermittently to promote gum health
- Pyorrhea can be prevented from progressing provided it is treated timely.
Doctors advise that people who have periodontitis should take utmost care of dental hygiene.
