YOGI 2.0: That’s why Yogi’s victory is historic
In the history of 70 years, Yogi Adityanath is the first such CM of Uttar Pradesh who has won the re-election after completing the five-year term.
Prior to this, Sampurnanand (1957) of Congress,. Chandrabhanu Gupta (1962), Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna (1974) and Narayan Dutt Tiwari (1985) were successful in winning again, but neither of them completed a five-year term.
Yogi is only the third CM in UP to complete a five-year term after Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav.
This is the first time after 1985 that any party has been successful in getting the power of UP for the second time in a row.

In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP has lost about 58 seats in comparison to 2017, but after 1985, the BJP is the first party to return to power in Uttar Pradesh for the second time in a row. Earlier, Congress had registered consecutive victories in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections in 1980 and 1985. According to the Election Commission website, the BJP had won 253 seats in Uttar Pradesh late last night and was leading in one seat. Apna Dal (S) has got 12 seats. The Samajwadi Party had won 108 seats and was leading in four seats.
SP has gained more than 70 seats. The BSP could win only one seat and the Congress two seats. Rashtriya Lok Dal got eight seats and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party got six seats. Eight-time MLA and Leader of Opposition in UP Ramgovind Chaudhary, Basic Education Minister Dr. Satish Kumar Dwivedi, Rural Development Minister Rajendra Pratap alias Moti Singh, Youth and Sports Minister Upendra Tiwari, Sugarcane Minister Suresh Rana, Congress State President Ajay Singh Lallu and Former MP Dhananjay Singh of JDU has lost. Swami Prasad Maurya, who was labor minister in the BJP government and former AYUSH minister Dharam Singh Saini, lost despite switching to SP.
