Lentils are an important part of the Indian kitchen. It is tasty as well as healthy. Whether you want to increase or decrease weight, lentils are definitely a part of your diet in both cases. Those who go outside India, they miss the most of pulses and rice. People eat tur dal the most. There are also different ways of tempering it. Here we will tell you two ways. One for those who eat onions and one for those who do not eat onion-garlic. These are very simple recipes by which you can double the fun of your dal. Learn easy tricks here.
Method 1
If you want to make dal without onion-garlic, then you can make it this way. It is most important to soak the dal before making it. You soak the lentils for at least half an hour. After that wash it thoroughly. Now put it in the cooker. Add turmeric, salt and water to it. Also add chopped ginger and tomato. Boil the dal. Keep in mind that the dal should not be very thin and soggy, nor should it be such that the water separates and the lentils remain standing. When the dal is cooked, mash it a little with a spoon. Now take ghee in a pan. When the ghee is hot, add asafoetida. After that add cumin. Now after adding chopped green chilies, add a little kasoori fenugreek. Now add lentils to it. Keep the dal on the gas for a while and stir it. After closing, squeeze four drops of lemon in it and garnish it with coriander.
Method 2
If you eat onion-garlic, then boil the lentils in the cooker by adding tomatoes and ginger as described above. After boiling the lentils, heat ghee in a pan. Add asafoetida, cumin and long chopped onions to it. After this add some kasoori methi. Fry the onion till it turns pink and add lentils to it. After stirring the dal for some time, switch off the gas. Now heat ghee in a spoon. Keep the flame high. Add broken red chilies to it and add 5-5 cloves of garlic. Make an incision in the buds first. When the garlic is roasted, add this tempering to the dal.
