New Delhi. Generally people eat mushroom as a vegetable, which costs between Rs 200 and Rs 400 per kg. But have you ever heard of a mushroom costing Rs 1 lakh per kg? However, you are bound to be shocked to hear the price. It is available at select places and is used as a medicine. It has been discovered by the Directorate of Mushroom Research, Solan of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) and it was recently displayed on the foundation day of IARI held in Delhi, which became a center of attraction among the people.

The price of this mushroom named Cordyceps Militaris is Rs 1 lakh per kg in the market. Dr. BL Atri, scientist of Directorate of Mushroom Research Solan, says that this mushroom is used as medicine. It is dried in the sun and stored and used as per need. Apart from increasing stamina, it works as a panacea for kidney and heart patients. Athletes also consume it to increase their stamina. It can also be purchased from the centre in Solan.

The center’s scientist Dr. Satish Kumar explains that the way to eat it is to soak five to six pieces in water at night and consume both the water and the fruit in the morning. Its crop is grown in a closed room, where the temperature should be 20 to 22 degrees. The crop is ready in 45 days. It is grown in small jars. About 25 grams of mushrooms are produced in one jar. Which contains 200 to 250 pieces.

Training is being given to farmers across the country

Scientist Dr. BL Atri says that training is given for this crop in the center. Groups of 10 farmers each are formed and the entire process from sowing to harvesting is explained to them. One group is being trained every month.
