In Himachal Pradesh’s capital Shimla, a meeting of the Board of Directors of Himachal Path Parivahan Nigam (HRTC) was held on Friday under the chairmanship of the state’s Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, in which many major decisions were taken. In the meeting, Mukesh Agnihotri said that only 231 routes of HRTC are in profit, the rest are in loss. Women have been given the main facilities, neither have they been taken back nor the minimum fare has been increased. We are working on how to reduce expenses and increase income in HRTC.

An important decision was also taken in the meeting to increase the salary of the daily wage earners of the corporation from Rs 375 to Rs 400. Regarding the 50 percent discount given to women in the corporation buses, Mukesh Agnihotri said that there was no discussion on this matter in the meeting. It is believed that to recover from the losses, the government can stop the 50 percent discount in fare for women, but no decision has been taken in this regard.

Driver recruitment will be completed

Mukesh Agnihotri said that we cannot look at our expenses from the point of view that we are working in loss. We are a welfare state and we have responsibilities towards the people. HRTC has entered its 50th year. During this time, there is a discussion on what we lost and what we gained. We are completing all the routes for 70 lakh people. The bus facility is taking people to their destinations from time to time and is working for the people.

Mukesh Agnihotri said that the recruitment of drivers which was on hold for a long time will now be done. Full attention is being paid to the recruitment. Recruitment will be done on the basis of merit after looking at how to drive the bus, what are its standards.
