On Thursday, members of Rajya Sabha could not stop laughing when Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar told a Congress member that he was speaking here not with the grace of Lord Mahadev, but with the permission of the chair. This incident happened in the House when Congress member Akhilesh Prasad Singh was participating in the discussion on the general budget. After some comment by Union Minister Giriraj Singh, he said, “With the grace of Mahadev, I will speak…”

On this, Chairman Dhankhar said, “Akhilesh ji, I have got permission from the chair to speak. Use Mahadev ji for some other work… Mahadev ji belongs to all of us, use Mahadev some other time.” Members could not stop laughing at this comment of the Chairman. Chairman further said, “You and Giriraj ji have a direct relationship. Congress member Singh said jokingly, he (Giriraj Singh) says even during elections that don’t come towards me.” On this, once again members could not stop laughing.

Trinamool called the budget a copy-paste…
On the other hand, Trinamool Congress, calling the Union Budget a ‘copy-paste’ and ‘AB’ (Andhra Pradesh-Bihar) budget, said in the Lok Sabha on Thursday that “Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is not an economist and she prepares the budget at the behest of the Prime Minister’s Office.” Participating in the ‘Further General Discussion on the Union Budget for the financial year 2024-25’, Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy said that he agrees with the allegations of party member Abhishek Banerjee against the government regarding the budget. He said that the allegations made by Banerjee regarding not allocating funds to West Bengal under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) scheme and housing scheme are absolutely correct.
