New Delhi. In the month of Sawan, camps are set up at various places across the country to serve the devotees of Lord Shiva who go on the Kanwar Yatra. In these camps, arrangements are made for the stay of the Kanwariyas, their food, drink and sleeping. Usually, a camp has arrangements for the stay of 10 to 50 people. A Kanwar camp has been set up in Delhi, in which not 10-20-50 or 100 but 20 thousand people have been accommodated. This Kanwar camp has been set up by the Delhi government in the Kashmiri Gate area.

Delhi Revenue Minister Atishi said on Wednesday that the Delhi government has set up the country’s largest Kanwar camp at Kashmiri Gate, making arrangements for accommodation of 20,000 people. According to a government statement, Atishi visited this Kanwar camp to review the preparations and directed the administration to be vigilant about the security and facilities of Kanwariyas during the Kanwar Yatra.

There are 185 government Kanwar camps in Delhi…
The minister said that the camp has separate halls for male and female Kanwariyas and a huge dining hall for taking ‘prasad’. Atishi said, “185 Kanwar camps have been set up across Delhi where there are facilities like ‘waterproof tents’, sleeping arrangements, clean water and toilets etc.” According to the minister, doctors will be present in all the camps round the clock so that Kanwariyas can be provided immediate treatment if needed.

He said that local dispensaries have been attached to the camps and CAT ambulances have also been deployed for emergencies. The Kanwar Yatra has started with the month of Saawan which started on 22nd July this month and will conclude on 2nd August (Shivratri). A large number of Kanwariyas will reach Delhi while some of them will go to Haryana and Rajasthan via Delhi borders.
