Opposition attacks the government in Parliament on relations with China, demands discussion


Parliament Monsoon Session LIVE: The discussion on the Union Budget 2024-25 continued in both houses of Parliament yesterday, with the Lok Sabha having to be adjourned twice as opposition members protested the comments coming from the Treasury benches. Congress MP Manish Tewari gave an adjournment motion notice in the Lok Sabha today and demanded a discussion on the border situation and the huge trade deficit with China.

Yesterday in Rajya Sabha, Congress member Randeep Singh Surjewala launched a scathing attack on the government over its policies related to agriculture. During the discussion on the budget, he said, “The DNA of the government is anti-farmer. The government has not spent Rs 3 lakh crore on six schemes related to agriculture.” He said that no provision has been made in the budget to waive farmers’ loans. He also said that the government is not providing adequate MSP on food grains to the farmers.
