Islamabad: Pakistan police arrested Rauf Hasan, information secretary of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), after raiding the party’s central secretariat on Monday. It was initially reported that PTI Chairman Gauhar Ali Khan was also arrested. However, party spokesperson Zulfi Bukhari rejected the news of Khan’s arrest, while confirming Hasan’s arrest. It is not clear what the charges are against Hasan. Rauf Hasan was also attacked by unidentified persons a few weeks ago, leaving him with facial injuries.
‘Police is making a mockery of the law’
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf condemned Hassan’s arrest in a post on ‘X’ and criticised the Islamabad police. “It is absolutely shameful that Islamabad police is completely making a mockery and disregarding every law of this country,” the party said. PTI leader Khurram Sher Zaman claimed that policemen were seizing documents and equipment from the party’s office.
