Home Minister Amit Shah also congratulated

Home Minister Amit Shah also greeted CRPF personnel and their family members on the occasion of Raising Day. “Greetings to CRPF personnel and their family members on the force’s Raising Day. CRPF has taken national security as a mission since its inception. Played an important role in the integration of princely states

Let us tell you that CRPF was established by the British in 1939 before independence. Then the name of this force was Crown Representative Police. After independence, on 28 December 1949, by bringing an Act in the Parliament, this force was renamed as Central Reserve Police Force. After independence, CRPF was also given the responsibility of bringing the native princely states under the Government of India. CRPF played a very big role in the inclusion of princely states like Junagadh, Hyderabad, Kathiawar and Kashmir in India. These princely states had refused to join India. Also, CRPF played a very big role in investigating infiltration in Rajasthan, Kutch and Sindh borders.

In 1959, China’s attack was foiled

CRPF made the supreme sacrifice for the country by foiling the Chinese attack on 21 October 1959. Smriti Diwas is celebrated every year on 21 October to commemorate this sacrifice. CRPF provided vital assistance to the Indian Army in Arunachal Pradesh during the Chinese invasion in 1962 in which 8 soldiers of the force were martyred. Apart from this, in the war between India and Pakistan in 1965 and 1971, CRPF fought shoulder to shoulder with the Indian Army against Pakistan.

Insurgency eradicated from Tripura

During the peace crisis in Tripura and Manipur in the 1970s, CRPF soldiers carried out operations for several years and wiped out the militants from the area. Apart from this, the CRPF soldiers showed bravery and foiled the terrorist attack on the Indian Parliament on 13 December 2001. During the attack, there was firing between CRPF and terrorists for 30 minutes. In which 5 terrorists were killed.
