Preparations are on to eliminate dengue with 'oil balls', these balls can be made very easily at home

Rajat Bhatt/Gorakhpur: Dengue cases have started increasing. Along with making people aware to prevent them, measures are also being taken to prevent them. For this, the Municipal Corporation has prepared a special plan in Gorakhpur. Through this plan, the density of dengue mosquitoes will be reduced. With the cooperation of the Health Department and the Malaria Department, the Municipal Corporation has done a special experiment to reduce dengue mosquitoes. Water was collected in an empty plot near the Chain Singh Baba Mukteshwar Nath Temple in the Lal Diggi area of the city. Here the Municipal Corporation has prepared an ‘oil ball’ and left it there.

To make an oil ball, first take small pieces of worn out clothes and tie them with 50 grams of saw dust and then dip them in worn out engine oil for 24 hours. Due to this, those pieces of cloth absorb 50 to 75 grams of engine oil. After some time, the oil ball is ready.

How useful is the oil ball
The Municipal Corporation has started the process of making ‘oil balls’. This can help in controlling the density of mosquitoes. After preparing these ‘oil balls’, they are put in places where rainwater collects or in small pits in the city where water often collects. Mosquito larvae are formed in these places. Dengue mosquitoes are born from those larvae.

By pouring this ‘oil ball’, a layer of oil spreads in an area of about 5 to 10 square meters. After this, mosquito larvae are unable to come to the surface and breathe and all of them die. Due to the formation of a layer of oil on water, its density also decreases. Mosquitoes are unable to sit there and lay eggs. The corporation will conduct such experiments at places where rainwater collects and where dengue mosquitoes grow.

what did the officer say
Gorakhpur Municipal Corporation is completing this experiment in collaboration with the Health Department and Malaria Department. Municipal Commissioner Mani Bhushan Tiwari says that through this experiment mosquito larvae will be eliminated and dengue can be controlled. Public interest diseases can be prevented by reducing the density of mosquitoes. Along with this, special attention is given to anti-larva spraying and cleanliness through the corporation. Malaria Officer Angad Singh says, “We will eliminate mosquito larvae through oil balls. Due to which dengue patients will be reduced, along with this special attention will also be given to cleanliness.”
