New Delhi. Salman Khan has opened up about the threats he has been receiving from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang for the past several years. Last month, the Bollywood superstar recorded his statement in the firing case at his house. Salman Khan claimed that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang was trying to kill him. He also revealed that he had asked his family members to ‘stay alert at all times’ after the firing incident in April this year.
According to India Today, Salman Khan told the Anti Extortion Cell of Mumbai Crime Branch, ‘I heard a sound like a firecracker. Then, at around 4.55 am, the police bodyguard informed that two bike-borne men had fired a weapon on the first floor balcony of Galaxy Apartment. Earlier also, attempts were made to harm me and my family. I have come to know that Lawrence Bishnoi has taken responsibility for the attack on social media. Therefore, I believe that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has fired on my balcony.’
There was a threat of death
Salman Khan said, ‘Even before this, Lawrence Bishnoi and his gang members had talked about killing me and my relatives in an interview. Therefore, I believe that Lawrence Bishnoi, with the help of his gang members, carried out the shootout when my family members were sleeping inside and was planning to kill me and my family members, so they attacked.’
Threats were made through email and firing took place outside the house
Salman Khan elaborated about the previous threats from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang and said, ‘After that, in March 2023, an email came from one of my team staff on my official email, threatening me and my family on behalf of Lawrence Bishnoi. In this regard, my team member had lodged a case at the Bandra Police Station.’ He also revealed that in January this year, two men had attempted to break into his farmhouse in Panvel using fake names and identities. Then in April this year, there was a shootout outside Khan’s Galaxy Apartments in Mumbai’s Bandra area. Later, it was reported that the Lawrence Bishnoi gang is accused of being behind the attack as the gangster’s brother Anmol Bishnoi took responsibility for the shootout incident through a Facebook post.
The president of Bishnoi society had issued a statement
In May, Devendra Budia, president of the All India Bishnoi Samaj, had also issued a statement arguing that if Salman himself apologises, the Bishnoi community will consider his apology. Pinkvilla quoted the Bishnoi gang leader as saying to IANS, “If Salman himself apologises, the Bishnoi community will consider his apology. The mistake was not committed by Somi Ali, but by Salman.” He said, “So he should propose to the Bishnoi community that he wants to apologise. He should come to the temple and apologise. He should take an oath that he will never make such a mistake in the future and will always work to protect wildlife and conserve the environment. If he does so, the decision to forgive him will be considered by the community.”
