‘Sir, the problem with plane fare…’ Opposition MP made such a complaint that even Om Birla was surprised

New Delhi. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla was seen in a very strict tone on Friday. First, he explained the rules of Parliament to a minister. After this, on a complaint by a DMK MP associated with the opposition India Alliance, he gave strict instructions to the Union Civil Aviation Minister.

Actually, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran told about the discrepancy in air fares, on hearing which even Speaker Om Birla was surprised. He asked Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to investigate this, because the money goes from the Parliament, which is a matter of concern. On this, Naidu said that he will investigate this complaint.

DMK MP explained the rent issue
While asking a supplementary question related to the Civil Aviation Ministry during the Question Hour in the House, DMK MP Dayanidhi Maran raised the issue of high fares, referring to a private airline company. He said that while booking a ticket for a flight from Chennai to Delhi, the fare was first shown as around 33 thousand rupees and when an attempt was made to pay, an ‘error’ occurred and after some time the airline company started showing three times more fare.

In this regard, Maran also raised questions on the working style of the airline’s software. On this, Birla said, ‘Hon’ble Minister, the member has raised a serious issue. This should be investigated. Many members have complained about this. The money for this (MPs’ airfare) comes from the Parliament, that is why we are also concerned.’ On this, Naidu said, ‘We will get this investigated.’

Instructions even on speaking with hands in pockets
Earlier, during the Question Hour, a Union Minister was seen talking with his hands in his pockets, which he expressed strong displeasure over. In fact, Speaker Om Birla said to this minister who was answering during the Question Hour, ‘Minister, please take your hands out of your pockets.’ After this, he also appealed to other MPs not to come to the House with their hands in their pockets.

Om Birla also urged the MPs not to pass in front of a member raising an issue in the House. The Lok Sabha Speaker said, ‘Whenever an honorable member is speaking, no one should pass in front of him and should not sit on the seat in front of the member. You can sit on the back seat.’ In fact, according to parliamentary rules, passing between a member addressing the House and the Speaker is considered a violation of parliamentary etiquette.
