Snake bite: Will Vikas Dwivedi die after being bitten by a snake for the 9th time? Or will he be free from snake phobia? Know the opinion of doctors

Vikas Dubey Snake Bite News: The incident of repeated snake bites of Vikas Dwivedi, a resident of Fatehpur in Uttar Pradesh, has become a mystery. Vikas has claimed that the snake came to him in his dream and told him that he will survive if it bites him 8 times but he will die if it bites him for the ninth time. According to the claim, the snake has bitten Vikas 8 times and he has survived. However, doctors are constantly rejecting this claim of Vikas and they are calling it snake phobia. In such a situation, the biggest question is that if Vikas is bitten by a snake for the 9th time, will he really die or if he survives, will he be free from this phobia forever.. Let’s know what the doctors think about this?

Fatehpur Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rajiv Nayan Giri has News18hindi In a conversation with , it was understood that after seeing the entire incident of Vikas Dwivedi, it has been understood that he is suffering from the fear of snake bite i.e. ophidiophobia. He says that the snake has bitten him 8 times, he will die in the 9th time. In such a case, death does not occur due to ophidiophobia, but if the person becomes too scared then he can also die due to heart attack or stroke, but if this does not happen then he will survive.

Dr. Giri said, ‘When this case came to light, we sent a team twice to Vikas Dwivedi and his family to come to the district hospital, where he would be treated with complete security. CCTV cameras and guards would be on their watch, but they did not come. Apart from the team of doctors, we also called a snake charmer and got Vikas Dwivedi’s snake bite tested, which revealed that he is seriously suffering from phobia.’

Will Vikas die?
Dr. Giri says that how can death occur when the snake has not bitten? This is just a fear. This phobia of snake bite is very common in those European countries where snake bites happen frequently and due to this, one in 10 cases there is of ophidiophobia. In India too, there are such patients who feel that the snake will bite them or the snake is after them. Cases like Vikas have happened because this can happen in mentally weak people. These people remain scared and if they do not get proper treatment, they can remain in this condition for a long time.

However, no data is available for India on the deaths of patients in such a situation. Then it is seen that if there is no other disease due to psychological problem or phobia, then death does not occur.

If you escape snake bite for the 9th time, will you be free from phobia?
Dr. Giri said that if he survives the 9th snakebite, then he may also be cured. As it is known that he is in Balaji temple of Rajasthan, there he is trusting God. Since phobia is also a completely psychological term and trusting God completely by taking refuge in him is also a mental belief, in such a situation, if he survives, then it is possible that he gradually gets rid of this fear and this phobia of his also ends automatically.

What did the psychiatrist say, death may occur?

Psychiatrist Dr. Sandeep Govil of Yashoda Multispeciality Hospital, Kaushambi says that many changes take place in the body when a snake bites, many things change in the patient’s blood. The poison changes his physical and mental condition but according to the information received so far, in Vikas Dwivedi’s case, it is not a case of snakebite. It is his mental problem. As far as his death after being bitten for the 9th time is concerned, psychiatry starts from here that death will not happen. There will be tension, stress, trouble, fear, everything but death will not happen.

Can development heal on its own?
Dr. Govil says that there is a disease in psychiatry called hypochondriasis. If we look at it in the context of India, the patient suffering from this disease feels that he is going to die, he has got a serious disease, he searches for the most serious diseases and brings them to the doctor. Vikas Dwivedi’s case is also almost the same. According to medical science, Vikas’s case of snakebite is a symptom of psychiatric illness.

It can also be understood this way that people suffering from this disease in cities fear death from diseases like heart attack, cancer, accident and brain tumor, whereas in rural areas, there is fear of death from snake bite, scorpion bite, falling in a well or drowning, etc. Actually, when mental illness increases, the patient develops a false belief. He also has dreams and he starts believing them to be true.

If Vikas is suffering from this disease, then it is not necessary that after surviving the 9th bite, his disease will be cured. It is possible that this disease troubles him again in some other form. It has been observed in psychiatry that it is difficult to get rid of it completely until the medicine works. He will keep fearing something or the other. This is a case of psychiatric delusion, in which the brain creates a complete image, and that seems to be the truth.
